In my previous blog, I told you water is the best thirst quencher that keeps our bodies, hydrated, and we cannot do without it.  Yes, it is true, and I stand by it wholeheartedly, but I wanted something, I could drink and still feel hydrated and keeping healthy. I have found that apart from this important desired" quencher, there are also other options that can have the same effect, and is good for the body.  While thinking about what I could drink to continue being healthy and still give me hydration and still quench my thirst.  While I never made pineapples my choice of fruit, I did some research about the benefits of "pineapples."  First of all, I wanted to know why they are called pineapples. I researched that European explorers coined the name " pineapples" because it resembled a pine cone.  However, in other countries, has a name similar to "ananas" which comes from the Tupi word  "nanas" meaning excellent fruit and was recorded by Andre Thevet, a French Franciscan priest and explorer in 1555. (Hunt, 2018)  I learned that pineapples have so many nutrients packed in it, that my  family decided not only to start eating it regularly. We decided to make our own natural pineapple drink from the pineapple skin and core.  All summer my family and I have been eating and drinking our own pineapple drink.  According to researchers, pineapple can boost the immune system, can help you with digestion, and are very low in calories. 

Pineapples are a a good source of antioxidants and is said to help fight many harmful diseases.  I know that some fruits have more sugar than others but, the Pineapple is low in fat, contain no cholesterol, and do not contain salt. 

Pineapples also contain Vitamin C and is sweet, but pineapples contain 74 calories.  I have been eating pineapples all summer and have made them part of my daily diet.  There is a substance in pineapple called "Bromelain" which is said to be good for inflammation in the body.   P.S.  If you cannot get fresh pineapples, you can try the brand by Dole. Be careful of the sugar content in the can pineapples and juice. I recommend you try the sugar free juice and pineapples. "Of course freshness is always better ".  

Our family has been drinking our own personal recipe of pineapples, ginger, lemon, honey, and a two chunks of pineapples.   We call it  "Pineapp Pleasure" what a refreshing drink.  Try making this drink and I am sure you will love the refreshing taste.
